An in-country mission helped chart the improvements being made to the IT platform at National Agency for Sanitary Regulation, Control, and Observation (ARCSA). In parallel to the procurement and installation of a modern data center, worth USD 350,000 and financed by the Alliance project, a bespoke enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has been developed with the objective of simplifying and centralizing the more than 400 agency procedures. ARCSA is set to launch a new user interface for completing key international trade formalities by September 2023, and has initiated an information campaign to promote it. The team also organised a private sector workshop to share the project progress and engage users in the validation of deliverables and software testing during the upcoming months.

On May 30, two updated trade related e-services were launched as a part of the project plan, successfully reaching 6 of the 17 formalities that will be intervened with the Alliance’s assistance. This will allow AGROCALIDAD to efficiently process more than 325 Certificates of Free Sale (CFS) and 2,680 Animal Health Import Permits each year. An updated Single Window in Ecuador will improve the certification and permit processes will, reducing the time and cost for traders.
