Another key milestone has been achieved in the journey to digitalise Bhomra land port with the recent contracting of Spectrum Engineering Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd., which will develop the necessary IT infrastructure and hardware needed to support the e-Port management system.
The Bhomra land port is one of the busiest and economically significant ports in Bangladesh. The Alliance, through its implementing partner Swisscontact, is working with the Bangladesh Land Port Authority (BLPA) and the private sector to streamline and optimise key border processes.
On December 4th 2023, Swisscontact Team Leader Fazle Razik and Spectrum Director Aminul Quader Khalili signed a formal contract, marking the beginning of the installation of the e-Port management hardware system. D.M. Atiqur Rahman, BLPA Director (Admin) and Project Director, Peter Bissegger, Swisscontact Services AG CEO, Md. Alamgir Kabir, Swisscontact Bangladesh Head of Business Administration, Monoj Kumar Roy, DBLP Government Relation Advisor, Md. Sayeem Khan, Spectrum Manager, Project Management were also present at the event.
The new IT infrastructure installation is expected to enhance the embedded functionality of the e-Port management software, a crucial step towards completion of a modern e-Port management system. Digitalisation of the port will reduce delays for traders and improve working conditions for border agencies, including Customs.
