Skincare Manufacturer Offers Invaluable Experience, Expertise

The Alliance welcomes Beiersdorf, a Germany-based international skincare company with top brands such as Nivea, Eucerin, La Prairie and Coppertone, to its growing network of Global Business Partners.

First established as a single pharmacy in 1882, Beiersdorf is now a publicly-listed manufacturer with almost 22,000 employees represented in over 165 territories. Aside from personal care products, Beiersdorf also markets a range of self-adhesive goods, primarily for industrial customers, under the Tesa mark.

Beiersdorf is committed to transparency across its value chain, requiring its 21,000 suppliers in over 100 countries to adhere to a strict code of conduct and a comprehensive compliance programme.

“The work of the Alliance aligns with Beiersdorf’s commitment to promoting trade facilitation measures across our value chain, improving inclusivity while rigorously enforcing social, environmental, economic and environmental standards,” said Dr. Mahmut Kobal, Global Head of Customs and International Trade. “Our policies embody a comprehensive commitment to making a measurable, positive contribution to sustainable development.”

Beiersdorf was among several Global Business Partners to participate in a recent workshop to address broad new European Union rules governing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting standards across supply chains. Co-hosted by the Alliance and Maersk, the event looked at how to meet reporting obligations covering a wide range of issues, including carbon emissions, deforestation, due diligence, and forced labour.

Global Business Partners assist the Alliance in opening doors, contributing expertise, identifying bottlenecks in supply chains, and amplifying the benefits of public-private partnership in peer forums.

“Attracting companies of Beiersdorf’s calibre recognises the impact the Alliance’s agile public-private partnership approach brings to delivering successful trade facilitation initiatives in developing and least developed countries,” said Alliance Director, Philippe Isler.
