Privacy & cookies policy

1. Preamble

The Alliance is a public-private platform co-led by the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) with its registered office at 33-43 avenue du Président Wilson, 75116 Paris, France, the World Economic Forum (“WEF”) with its registered office at Route de la Capite 91-93, 1223 Cologny, Switzerland, and the Center for International Private Enterprise (“CIPE”) with its registered office at 1211 Connecticut Ave NW #700, Washington, DC 20036, USA. ICC, WEF and CIPE are autonomous legal entities. Any reference to the Alliance in this Privacy Policy should be construed as a reference to each of ICC, WEF and CIPE.

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform users of data protection rights with regard to the Alliance website including any mobile version thereof (“Alliance Site”) accessible on http://www.tradefacilitation.org and the measures put in place by the Alliance in order to protect those rights.

By visiting the Alliance Site and providing information to the Alliance through the Alliance Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and consented to this Privacy Policy. The Alliance encourages you to carefully read this Privacy Policy.

The entity responsible for and acting as the data controller of the Alliance Site is ICC.

2. Type of Information Collected 

The Alliance may collect for processing purposes the following categories of personal information howsoever collected: family name, first name, organization, position, activity, age, date of birth, gender, address, postal code, country, phone, website, and email.

The Alliance will ensure that personal data collected through the Alliance Site is strictly necessary for the purposes described in section 3 below.

The Alliance, or third parties on its behalf, may use personal information you provide to:

These purposes have been brought to the attention of the person in charge of data protection at ICC who has included such information in the relevant data protection register.

The Alliance may disclose users’ personal data to Alliance staff members, including, but not limited to, its directors, officers, employees, trainees, secondees, consultants, Alliance partners, members, donors and service providers to the extent needed to carry out the activities or services they are required to perform. If prior user consent is required under applicable law, the Alliance will not collect any such data without such prior consent.

The Alliance may also disclose personal data as may be required by applicable laws, regulations, or governmental requests or to protect the rights of the Alliance.

The Alliance does not authorize third parties to use or to transfer your information for any other purposes than the ones mentioned in this section

4. Data Retention

The Alliance will retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the operations for which data has been collected and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

5. Transfer of Data 

For the purposes mentioned in section 3 of this Privacy Policy, as an international venture with a global network, the Alliance may need to transfer and process your personal information outside of your country and/or outside of the European Union, to/in countries which may have different data protection laws.

In this case, the Alliance will put in place appropriate and adequate operational, organizational, procedural, and technical measures in order to ensure the security and confidentiality of your personal data.

6. Your Rights 

If you no longer wish to receive communications from the Alliance (e.g., newsletters or Alliance news alerts), you may opt out by cancelling your subscription on the Alliance Site through the link sent in each email you receive from the Alliance, or by sending an email to dataprotection@iccwbo.org and to info@tradefacilitation.org.

In accordance with French applicable law which governs the Alliance Site, you have a right to access, question, modify and rectify personal information that concerns you. You also have a right to object to data processing of your personal data for promotional purposes or on the basis of any other legitimate grounds. You also have a right to indicate how you wish your personal data to be treated after death.

7. Security

Protecting your privacy and information is a priority for the Alliance. The Alliance protects your personal information from loss, misuse and alteration. However, please be aware that no data transmission over the internet or storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. The Alliance can only take steps to help reduce the risks of unauthorized access. Each individual using the internet can take steps to help protect his/ her personal information and further minimize the likelihood that a security incident may occur.

8. Cookies Policy 

General

Subject to your prior explicit consent where such consent is required by the applicable law in your jurisdiction, the Alliance Site uses “cookies” (i.e., small text files which are downloaded to a user’s device when visiting the Alliance Site) to make it easier for users to navigate and to improve the quality of the Alliance Site.

On 26 May 2011, a European Union law came into effect that requires website operators to be more transparent about their use of cookies. The Alliance uses cookies to save your logged-in status and track your visits to the site. This is useful for you and means that you do not have to login to access your preferences each time you visit the Alliance Site. This is also useful for the Alliance as it helps us gauge how many users have visited the Alliance Site.

Which cookies are we using?

When a user accesses a website using Google Analytics, cookies are placed and read on such user’s terminal equipment. Managing Cookies

Parameters of web browsers by default are generally set up in such a manner to accept cookies but you can easily change those parameters by modifying these parameters. 9. Links to Other Sites

The Alliance Site may contain links to or from a number of third party websites (“Third Party Sites”). The Alliance does not in any way control or operate the Third Party Sites. The Alliance is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, policies or actions of the Third Party Sites. This Privacy Policy is only applicable to the information collected on the Alliance Site and processed by the Alliance. This Privacy Policy does not govern the use of any information you may provide to third parties on Third Party sites or information that is otherwise collected by third parties.

10. Social Networks

Social media plug-ins of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Google plus or services with user-generated content features are integrated on the Alliance Site. Where the Alliance Site contain a plug-in to a social network site, these are clearly marked (e.g. with a Twitter button). If you choose to click on one of these buttons or links, your browser connects directly to the servers of the relevant social network. The other website’s privacy policy applies to any personal information you provide to that website. If you do not want the social network to collect information about you, please review the privacy policy of the relevant social network and/or log out of the relevant social network before you visit the Alliance Site.

11. Updates to Privacy Policy

The Alliance may from time to time revise or update this Privacy Policy. Any user is encouraged to regularly review and consult this Privacy Policy. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective upon publication of the revised Privacy Policy on the Alliance Site. By continuing to use the Alliance Site following such changes, you will be deemed to have agreed to such changes.
